The first CMMI model was developed at the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) at Carnegie Mellon University. Its aim was to judge the maturity of an organization's software development processes. CMMI version 1.3 was released on November 1, 2010. It integrated all three CMMI models into one release. These include CMMI for Development, CMMI for Services and CMMI for Acquisition.
