Adobe OnLocation is formerly a part of Adobe's Creative Suite collection of multimedia programs, until it was discontinued and its users encouraged to switch to Adobe Prelude instead, which fulfills about the same role with added benefits and capabilities. Previously known as Serious Magic DV Rack before it was acquired by Adobe in 2006, The Adobe OnLocation software describes itself as a direct to disk recording and monitoring application that allows adding metadata to recorded content. This was first made by Serious Magic, Inc., until it was later absorbed by Adobe; later, on April 2012, Adobe confirmed plans to discontinue the Adobe OnLocation software. Adobe Prelude takes over its role, enabling users to essentially "annotate" recorded content with searchable markers for an easier production workflow.The Adobe Creative Suite is a set of multimedia editing and web development tools created by Adobe and based from Macromedia's Studio suite. When Adobe acquired Macromedia, they rebranded the Studio suite as the Creative Suite. The Adobe Creative Suite Master Collection includes Photoshop Extended, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat X Pro, Flash Professional, Flash Builder Premium Edition, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Adobe Audition, SpeedGrade, Prelude, Encore, Bridge, and Media Encoder.
